by Losing Eric Garner Movie, LLC
The E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation, founded by Gwen Carr, Eric Garner's mother, is producing a documentary to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of her son, Eric Garner, at the hands of the NYPD. We're raising money to complete the film.
It's been nearly a decade since the tragic death of Eric Garner on July 17th, 2014. His last words, "I can't breathe," became a rallying cry for millions worldwide, demanding justice and systemic change in the wake of needless violence. As we approach the 10th anniversary of Eric's untimely passing, the pain remains but so does the commitment¡ to ensuring his memory is honored and the lessons from his death are never forgotten.
With great dedication, the E.R.I.C. Initiative Foundation, founded by Gwen Carr, Eric Garner's mother, has embarked on a mission to commemorate this pivotal moment in our shared history. We are proud to announce the production of the documentary feature, "Losing Eric Garner." This film seeks to provide an intimate look into the life, legacy, and impact of Eric Garner, examining the broader societal issues that surround his story.
The exciting news is that principal photography is almost complete. The emotions captured, the stories told, and the insights gathered are both powerful and enlightening. The film includes interviews with Ms. Gwen Carr, members of the Garner family, as well as others who were integral in supporting the family as they fought for justice - people like Rev. Al Sharpton, Mayor Eric Adams, Assemblyman Walter T. Mosley, and thought leaders like William Jelani Cobb, MSNBC political analyst and the Dean of the Columbia University School of Journalism. Now, we are embarking on the critical phase of post-production, with a goal of having the final cut of the film by July 17th, 2024, marking the exact 10th anniversary of Eric's tragic death.
